Study Abroad (2014)

MY QUEST FOR ZEST...

Simply put, I believe it should be a requirement to study abroad in university. You're forced out of your comfort zone in a positive way, you open your mind and are exposed to new culture, new perspectives, and you make memories that will last a lifetime!

Spring semester of my junior year I spent abroad in Reading, England. I went Rebel to White Knight. One of my closest friends growing up, who also attended Ole Miss, adventured with me. We stayed in a dorm full of students from the U.K. We were completely immersed in the culture and the experience. I think it's safe to say we gave everyone a proper laugh with our so typical American idiosyncrasies.

The experience shaped my future and love for travel. It helped broaden my horizons, open my mind to the unknown and the beauty that lies in that space. The time studying abroad still continues to shape me in ways to this day.

During my time at Reading, I also spent a month between spring and summer semester backpacking through Europe...sleeping on trains, traveling light, and growing daily. Learning through experience is far more valuable than what you can learn in a book.
